CELIA LEES

TORONTO

Celia Lees (b. 1996) is a Toronto-based abstract artist whose work centers on gesture, materiality, and emotional expression. Her practice began as a personal search for self-understanding and evolved into a commitment to capturing the intangible through mark-making and movement. Known for her large-scale paintings, Celia uses the physical motion of her body to shape composition, often incorporating found objects as tools.
While her surroundings influence her process, her primary inspiration stems from internal states and human connection. Celia’s work has been acquired by private collectors across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, and is included in commercial installations such as 200 Amsterdam (New York), Aria (Las Vegas), and The Laurel (West Palm Beach). She is currently represented by Bau-Xi Gallery (Canada), 11 Contemporary Art Centre (China), and Escat Gallery (Spain).
