This is a rare departure from Maria Loram’s usual work, this piece weaves her minimalist aesthetic with a deeply personal reflection on the immigrant experience. Created from 540 pages of her green card application—many of them tax forms—the sculpture transforms bureaucratic burden into lasting form. Paper dipped in clay and fired becomes fossilized memory; wire, glaze drips, and surface scars evoke the quiet struggles of adaptation. The moon jar’s bubbled surface reveals trauma made visible—imperfections that only emerge with time.
